  • LINDEN LAB: Improved Region Capacity and Access

Currently, when a region is full, access to the region is simply on a first come first served basis. This leads to a sort of distributed race to enter the full region; users repeatedly try to teleport or cross into the region and fail until someone leaves.  The next attempt made by anyone  succeeds, which makes the region full again. Even the region owner and estate managers must compete with other Residents to get into their own region if they find themselves outside of the region when it is full.

Linden Lab is introducing some improvements to how region limits and region entry work. Read the full article HERE

  • EXCITING NEWS FROM LINDEN LAB – MORE PRIM FOR ALL SECOND LIFE RESIDENTS !

Over the past 2 days a rumor built up about a coming increase of the prim limits for all Second Life regions and now it has been officially confirmed by Linden Lab.

The Lab is going to increase the prim limit as shown in the graphic below:

Linden Lab already started upgrading Mainland Regions on 3rd of November. Mainland Regions will be upgraded first to test how the regions are performing with an increased number of Prim before they roll it out to the entire Grid. If everything goes well we can expect Private Regions to be upgraded in a couple of months according to Patch Linden.

Watch Linden Lab’s Tutorial Video here (17:46 min) : https://www.slartist.com/designing-worlds-dw320x-linden-lab-special-edition_317145976.html

    • When can LUXORY Residents expect the changes to happen in our Regions ?
      – According to Linden Lab we can expect these changes to take place within a couple of months. First Linden Lab wants to test how the regions are performing.
    • How many Prim will be added to your Property ?
      – The increase in Prim will be 33 % for all Land in Private Estate Regions. For example, if you had 974 Prim before you will have 1,295 Prim after the changes took place.
    • Will Land Tier go up once the additional Prims are available ?
      – Your Land Tier will remain unchanged. We will NOT raise Tier for your land when the additional Prims become available.

We will keep you posted in our group notices and here on our Website about news. Please use our support form here on our Website if you have any questions now.

  • “Server Classes” in Second Life

Often we get asked what Server Class a region is. In the past there have been different designations for server types, from class 4 (the very early stage of Second Life) to class 8 (the latest, fastest server type). Customers often think they have to ask smart questions to get the best and fastest land on the fastest server.

Linden Lab has moved away from that sort of server designation years ago but the rumor that there are slower and faster server types in Second Life does still exist. Server class no longer matters because Linden Lab has created a system where each region is allocated the same amount of resources as others of its type ( Full Prim Sim, Homestead, Openspace ) .

There is a blog post on it here: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Land-and-Sea-General/Moving-away-from-server-Class/ba-p/650813

So, in short words: Since 2009 already, there are NO server classes anymore. Often landlords claim to have all their regions hosted on the latest server class but there is simply no such thing anymore and they are just trying to impress their customers by giving false statement. ALL regions in Second Life are allocated the same amount of resources as others of its type.

  • NEW: LUXORY THEMED REGIONS “NEW ENGLAND”

Today we have exciting news for our residents:

We started a new project by adding the first 2 regions belonging to our new residential complex “NEW ENGLAND”.

While New England – located in the United States of America – was originally inhabited by Indigenous peoples, English Pilgrims and especially Puritans, fleeing religious persecution in England, arrived in the 1620-1660 era. They dominated the region; their religion was later called Congregationalism. Farming, fishing and lumbering prospered, as did whaling, sea trading, and merchandising. The region was the scene of the first Industrial Revolution in the United States, with many textile mills and machine shops operating by 1830. New England is most famous also for it’s many pretty colonial homes and resorts, a theme we want to integrate into our openwater area now.

A beautiful terraformed and decorated grasland area offering a home to those in love with New England themed houses. Even more exciting as both regions are directly attached to our openwater continent with sailable waters. Greer West – a homestead – comes with 4 larger islands ( between 688 and 1159 prim ), while Greer is a full prim region with 14 carefully designed parcels for small and medium sized houses. You can find land here from 524 up to 1358 Prim).

Both regions are now open for visitors. Bring your boat and try them out. You can rez a boat anywhere in our openwater areas as long as you wear our group tag. Sailing here is for LUXORY members only.

If you are not sure how your home should look like – sample pictures can be found at our land store in the NEW ENGLAND sector ( outside, in front of the reception desk, there is a small monitor attached to one of the info boards.

  • GRANDFATHERED TIER (20 % OFF!) FOR ALL LUXORY FULL PRIM REGIONS IN 2017

On April 4 Linden Lab announced that they now allow estates to “buy down” tier for full prim regions and homesteads to the lower grandfathered price. I would like to provide all our residents and future customers with information what this means for you and your land in the future:

    1. Our full prim regions will become grandfathered within 8 months. It is a huge investment ( 600 USD for each full prim region to “buy down” tier ) and we expect we will be done with it in December 2016. Most estates already stated that they won’t go that way but we are willing to make this investment to offer you not only the best quality and support but also the best prices now and in the future. Please be patient though, this can be done only in small steps.

    2. On JANUARY 01, 2017 tier for all land in our FULL PRIM REGIONS will be reduced by 20 %. For existing land owners as well as for new residents. Residential land as well as commercial land.

    3. All our homesteads already have grandfathered status and all our homestead tenants pay grandfathered tier . For our homestead regions there will be no change at all. LUXORY homestead residents enjoy grandfathered tier since 2009 already.

  • How To Speed Up Windows 10 !

Here are some easy steps for you how to really speed up your computer if you are using Windows 10!

Before you make any changes you should always create a restore point so that – IF for any reason one of the following modifications is not working out for you – you can always easily undo all steps and go back to where we started.

    A

    CREATE A RESTORE POINT
    – Click on your WINDOWS start button (lower left corner), and type “Create a restore point” in search
    – a SYSTEM PROPERTIES window will open up and you should directly have the SYSTEM PROTECTION tab open

    restore_point

    – Create a restore point now by clicking the last button (“Create”)
    – Type a description to help you identify the restore point later. Current date and time are added automatically.
    – now you can undo system changes by reverting your computer to a previous restore point.

    B

    SPEED UP YOUR COMPUTER
    1. Turn off UAC
User Account Control, or just UAC is a part of the Windows security system which prevents apps from making unwanted changes on your PC. When some software tries to change system-related
parts of the Registry or the file system, Windows 10 shows an UAC confirmation dialog, where the user should confirm if he really wants to make those changes. Thus, UAC provides a
special security environment for your user account with limited access rights and can elevate a particular process to full access rights when necessary. However, many users are not happy
to see these UAC prompts and prefer to use Windows 10 with the classic security model, i.e. by creating limited and administrator accounts like in Windows XP and earlier. If you are one
of those users, here is how to disable UAC and get rid of its popups in Windows 10.
    – Type in your start “UAC” and set it to “Never notify”

    2. Speed Up Start Up
    – Type in your start “MSCONFIG” , open up the BOOT tab and set timeout to “3 SEC”
    – click on ADVANCED and set NUMBER OF PROCESSORS to MAX.

    3. Adjust PC for BEST PERFORMANCE
    – Open CONTROL PANEL – SYSTEM & SECURITY – SYSTEM – ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS – PERFORMANCE SETTINGS – Mark only the 7 options shown in the following graphic , keep all others unchecked:

    performance_options

    4. Clean Windows Temporary Files with one click
    – Open up your notepad and create a new text document. Copy & paste the following to your new text document and save it as speedup.bat on your desktop:

    @echo off
    del /s /f /q c:\windows\temp\*.*
    rd /s /q c:\windows\temp
    md c:\windows\temp
    del /s /f /q c:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
    del /s /f /q %temp%\*.*
    rd /s /q %temp%
    md %temp%
    deltree /y c:\windows\tempor~1
    deltree /y c:\windows\temp
    deltree /y c:\windows\tmp
    deltree /y c:\windows\ff*.tmp
    deltree /y c:\windows\history
    deltree /y c:\windows\cookies
    deltree /y c:\windows\recent
    deltree /y c:\windows\spool\printers
    del c:\WIN386.SWP
    cls

Doubleclick on it to run the script and it will clean up all your temporary files within moments. You can do this daily or weekly or whenever you want.

    5. Disable Updates from more than one place
When this is turned on, your PC may also send parts of previously downloaded Windows updates and apps to PCs on the internet which will significantly slow down your PC.
    – click on WINDOWS – SETTINGS – UPDATE & SECURITY – WINDOWS UPDATE – ADVANCED OPTIONS – CHOOSE HOW UPDATES ARE DELIVERED – turn off this option

    updates

    6. Defrag

Click on your Windows button and type
